Necrotising Soft Tissue
Infections
Imaging

Imaging is of limited
value in these patients. Plain X-ray, CT scan or MRI may show gas in
the soft tissues and help in making the diagnosis but the absence of
gas does not exclude it. It should be emphasised that these
are not diagnostic and should not be done if there is a high clinical
suspicion of the diagnosis as they will only delay treatment.
